Texas is big, when it comes to franchising, according to the folks at Franchise Help. “When you break down interest in franchising to the zip code level, everything is bigger in Texas. Eight of the ten zip codes with the highest absolute interest in franchising are all in the Lone Star State.”

My friends over at Small Business Trends just featured 20 unique food franchises. Some of them are pretty familiar-while some of them are not. Yet.

A drone business…that’s right, a (franchise) business specializing in using drones for all types of applications, could be opening near you. Check out what this former Wall Street guru is planning.

A new reality television show focused on small business starts in April. It’s called, “America’s Greatest Makers,” and it features teams of “makers” from all over the U.S. who compete for prizes and the attention of several celebrity judges. My friend, Carol Roth, is one of them along with Shaquille O’Neal and others.

Amazing Lash Studio, (yes-I’m hearing that eyelash extension services are in demand) the fastest growing franchisor of eyelash extension studios, announced that a new management team was just put in place to accelerate and grow the brand.

Motor City News:  According to the Kauffman Foundation’s report “Main Street Entrepreneurship by Metropolitan Area,” there are nearly 984 small businesses for every 100,000 residents in the Detroit metro. What’s more, the metro area in Michigan ranked No. 24 out of 40 areas studied, and a separate report from the foundation finds nearly 67 percent of small-business owners are launching ventures because they saw the opportunity to do so, not out of necessity.
